Kitchen update!!

Yay!!   I have painted the kitchen!

Well, almost painted 100%.  I still have the trim to work on.

Stupid trim.  Who invented trim anyways?

My husband and I recently stayed in this beautiful cozy flat on HWY 30A and I noticed the trim was painted the same color as the wall.  Hmm, wonder why they did that?  It looked really good and I shrugged it off as a way to make the room seem bigger.

Now I realize the irritation of painting trim was probably a big player in that decision.

I’ll cut in an edge all day long but I really dislike painting trim. Hate.  There I said it .  HATE IT.

Alas, as promised, the pictures:

Yes, the walls are bare.  Yes, there’s a cat.  She’s a bit of a photo bomber lately.  Yes, there is a person hiding behind the fridge.  I told him not to walk in front of me while I was taking pics or I’d post it. 🙂   Yes, there are stains on the rug.  No, I do not like the grout on these massive tiles.  To remove the grout would be a project more painful than painting trim so that’s not happenin’ .  Yes, the inside of the funky plate/cook book nook thingy is the color the cabinets used to be.  To remove the plate rack would require taking apart the cabinet.  To attempt to take apart the cabinet, ridiculous.  To paint in between all those things, absurd.  Let’s focus on the positive here!

I’m in love with the color.  Revere Pewter by SW.  The cabinets are Graphite by Annie Sloan Chalk Paint.  This project has taken me quite some time.  We replaced the light as well.

I’m considering a round seagrass rug and changing out the chairs to something upholstered.  Hush, yes, I have kids and it’s crazy to have upholstered stuff but I have a vision……

Gray, Grey, Greige??

Who would have thought!? Greige??  But what a beautiful color!  I have always been more of a neutral side when it comes to painting a room.  I shy away from anything that screams color in BOLD letters.   Look at these gray themed rooms…. Bathroom reset…. Ready Set GO!

There once was this bathroom.  It was cute.  Made for two.  Boy and girl.  Unfortunately it was one of the rooms I cringed every time I walked in.  Lime green paint, Blue and Pink polka dots too!  This has to change.  Only problem…..I wasn’t inspired.  I MUST be inspired.  I MUST have a vision.  I had nothing, nada, zero, ziltch.  Then one day it hit me!  Don’t you love it when you have that “Ah ha!” moment!  The clouds clear and finally you find what you have been looking for?  In this case it was all about color.

It was a Sunday.  Once of those relaxing Sundays there’s not really anything major to do.  My husband and I were just hanging outside enjoying our breakfast.  Fall was approaching and it was a lovely morning.  Low humidity, crisp blue sky, gentle breeze.  And BAM! My goal for the day was to paint the bathroom….  And it was going to be GRAY!!!  Hubby said What? Paint the bathroom?  Today?  Yes, dear.  It can be done. He’s such a  good sport.  A few hours later I was on the ladder painting the Lime Green away with the most beautiful gray from Sherwin Williams….Argos!  (More about my obsession with Gray here…)

Since the faucets and other fixtures in the bathroom were chrome, I decided it would be best to spray paint the mirrors a brushed nickel finish.  So I pulled out my handy dandy Rust-oleum spray paint, gave the hubs some tape and instructions and poof!  Polka dots be gone!  I’m still working on the décor but I can’t help to put yellow and gray together.  It’s so pretty.  And yes, it was finished in 3 hours 🙂  Thanks honey!DSC_4438

What was your latest vision?  Were you able to pull it off?
